How do I register for training?

you need to complete the registration forms, ether at one of the branches or via the online portal.

What do I need to register?

You must be a South African Citizen or have legal permanent residency, we will need 3 certified ID copies and the completed Registration and Indemnity forms.

How does the SAPS License process work?

APPICATION is broken into 2 STEPS:

– POLICE Clearance or POLICE COMPETENCY, which certifies the person as fit to own a firearm under the firearms control act and only needs to be done once per fire arm type and MUST be renewed every 5 years regardless of the state of your firearm license.

– LICENSE to possess the firearm in question.

What is the Difference between Competency and License?

Police Competency is for you, which means you are found competent by SAPS to possess a Firearm, there are 4 types of Firearms and you need a competency for each one to be able to apply for the license.

Firearm License is for each of the Firearms you own, which means for every firearm you wish to own you must apply for a license for that firearm.

How long does the Competency and Licensing Take?

it takes a minimum of 6 weeks for the competency and then a minimum of 6 weeks for the License. But it can take up to 12 mouths for each individually.
